'The Walking Dead' Power Rankings - Week 2
WARNING: Major Spoilers ahead for the latest episode of The Walking Dead! Continue reading at your [...]
10. Morgan
Morgan cracks into the Top 10 on the Power Rankings for a couple of simple reasons.
First of all, the guy is a total wild card at this point. He played dead to trick his enemies, and rose again to kill many of the Saviors walking around the compound he attacked. This guy can take on any opponent with confidence, which gives him a huge advantage throughout the rest of the war.
Secondly, Morgan has the respect of King Ezekiel. Despite going crazy, the guy is still trusted by the leader of The Kingdom, making him an important player going forward.
If this trend continues, and Morgan keeps up his lethal strategy, he'll likely rise in these rankings as the weeks go by.
prevnext9. Aaron
Aaron may have just began as a scout for Alexandria, but it's clear that he's taking on more responsibility with every day that passes.
This guy is now leading a group of the Alexandria army into battle against Negan, putting himself at the forefront of the entire war.
Outside of Michonne, Carl and Daryl, it looks like Aaron is the resident of Alexandria that Rick trusts the most. Unlike two of those characters, he's actually involved in the fight, while they are protecting everyone back at home.
prevnext8. Daryl
Daryl is working his way back to prominence in the world of The Walking Dead after spending a good chunk of last season in the hands of the enemy.
Now, he's fighting alongside Rick, taking out Negan's weapons cache.
One could argue that Daryl belongs higher on this list, but there are a couple of things holding him back.
First of all, he's a bit of a loose cannon. If it were up to Daryl, Dwight would already be dead, and the group wouldn't be in a position to defeat Negan. Secondly, while he's a strong soldier, Daryl isn't much of a leader. He will continue to play right-hand-man to Rick, which keeps him from having influence over much else.
prevnext7. Carol
Ezekiel is leading an entire army, and Carol is the one character who has influence over him.
Because of their growing friendship, Carol has become a trusted adviser and friend to Ezekiel, giving her the ability to sway the decisions he makes in the All Out War. When looking through her past, it's easy to see that having Carol in a position of power is definitely a good thing.
Unlike Ezekiel's other allies, Carol is the only one who will stand up and speak her mind to the King. She's not going to be afraid to get dirty if the situation calls for it, and Ezekiel needs someone like that in his corner.
prevnext6. King Ezekiel
Speaking of Ezekiel, he comes into this week's Power Rankings a little lower than you might think.
Yes, he has a large amount of soldiers at his disposal, including a vicious tiger. Despite his capabilities, Ezekiel is losing power fast. He's getting a little full of himself, and he might be rushing into battles with just a little too much confidence.
As you can see in the preview for next week's episode, the King is in trouble.
prevnext5. Jesus
Like Carol and Aaron, Jesus has cemented his place as one of the more influential lieutenants throughout the ranks of the Survivors.
Leading a team of soldiers into one of the outposts, Jesus was able to secure a substantial victory while still keeping his composure and humanity intact. He used that same collected demeanor to help push Maggie into a position of leadership at Hilltop.
Let's also not forget that Jesus is one of the most experience hand-to-hand fighters on the entire show. That's going to come in handy once the All Out War makes its way into the Sanctuary.
prevnext4. Dwight
Dwight is in quite possibly the best position amongst all of the characters in the All Out War. The guy still has Negan's trust, but he's also working very closey with Rick, who seems to see his value.
Unlike Eugene, Dwight is truly playing both sides of the fence. This allows him to really be the swing vote for the entire war, shaping the events of the story on his own. Plus, no matter who wins the war, Dwight can continue living if he plays his cards right.
As Season 8 continues, look for Dwight to become one of the most important characters on the show.
prevnext3. Maggie Rhee
Maggie has always been a brilliant strategist, but she has taken things to a whole new level over the course of the last few episodes.
After learning about politics and leadership in Alexandria, Maggie has taken those lessons to Hilltop, and used her honesty to gain the trust of everyone who lives there.
Now that Gregory has turned his back on Hilltop, Maggie is the outright leader. Many of the people from that community have truly started to follow her, including Hilltop's most valuable fighter, Jesus.
Glenn would be more than proud of the leader his wife is becoming.
prevnext2. Negan
While Negan held absolute power last season, the attack on the Sanctuary, and his subsequent entrapment in a trailer, has dropped the foul-mouthed leader down to second place.
As of now, Rick has the upper-hand in the All Out War, but don't expect it to stay that way for very long.
Negan has Morales on his side, who is currently holding Rick at gunpoint. There is also the possibility that Negan could find out about Dwight's activities at any point.
More than anything, the one advantage that Negan holds over Rick is the fact that he doesn't have a family like Rick's. If something happened to Michonne, Carl, Judith, Daryl or even Maggie, Rick would be devastated. There isn't anyone alive who holds that kind of pull over Negan, a man who has already lost everyone he cares about.
prevnext1. Rick Grimes
Despite the fact that he's currently got a gun pointed at his head, and a group of Saviors on their way, Rick still has the upper-hand, putting him at the top of our Power Rankings this week.
Rick has the armies of Alexandria, Hilltop and The Kingdom at his disposal, and he has Negan's back against the ropes.
The outcome of the war is still in Rick's hands. However, one slip could change all of that. Like we mentioned in the last slide, any harm done to his family could cause Rick to fall once again.
For now though, Sheriff Grimes remains on top.
