The Walking Dead, Danai Gurira, & Chandler Riggs Win Saturn Awards

AMC's goliath The Walking Dead continued to add awards to its collection at the 42nd Saturn Awards that took place on June 22nd.

The series took home the award for Best Horror TV Series, and the show's own Danai Gurira (who plays Michonne) won for Best Supporting Actress On Television. Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl Grimes on the hit show, also took home an award for Best Younger TV Actor (via Scifibulletin).

The Walking Dead wasn't the only multi-award winner for TV, as Hannibal won Best Action/Thriller TV Series and Best Supporting Actor on TV for the show's Richard Armitage. Outlander took home Best Fantasy TV Series, and Caitrionia Balfe won Best Actress on Television for her role in it. Other winners for Television were Continuum (Best Science Fiction Series), Doctor Who: The Husbands of River Song (Best Presentation), The Flash (Best Superhero Adaptation), Daredevil (Best New Media), Ash vs Evil Dead (Best Actor Bruce Campbell), and Haven (Best Guest Star William Shatner).

As for the film category, Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens took home multiple awards, including Best Science Fiction Film, Best Actor (Harrison Ford), Best Supporting Actor (Adam Driver), Best Writing (Lawrence Kasdan, J.J. Abrams, Michael Arndt), Best Editing (Maryann Brandon, Mary Jo Markey), Best Music (John Williams), Best Make-Up (Neal Scanlan), and Best Special Effects (Roger Guyett, Patrick Tubach, Neal Scanlan, Chris Corbould).

The rest of the category was evenly split for the most part, with Marvel Studios taking two awards, one for Best Comic-to-Film Motion Picture (Ant-Man) and Best Costume (Alexandra Byrne - Avengers: Age of Ultron). Other winners included Cinderella (Best Fantasy), Crimson Peak (Best Horror, Best Supporting Actress - Jessica Chastain, Best Production Design - Thomas E. Sanders), Furious 7 (Best Action/Adventure), Bridge of Spies (Best Thriller), Turbo Kid (Best International), Inside Out (Best Animated), Room (Best Independent), Mad Max: Fury Road (Charlize Theron - Best Actress), Jurassic World (Ty Simpkins -Best Performance by a Younger Actor), and The Martian (Ridley Scott - Best Director).
