WARNING: Spoiler ahead for the latest episode of The Walking Dead, 'New Best Friends'!
Tonight's episode of The Walking Dead featured one of the most intense zombie fights in the show's history, as Rick went toe-to-toe with the junkyard zombie.
As many of this season's trailers suggested, Rick would encounter a walker that was fitted with a number of protruding spikes, and he would have to fend it off in order to stay alive.
While he was able to conquer the creature, Rick didn't walk away from the fight unscathed. In addition to cutting his leg on some of the trash heap, Rick let one of the walker's spikes go straight through his hand.
Does this mean Rick is somehow infected?
Most likely, Rick is going to be just fine. The spike did go through a walker, so it probably contained the infection at one time or another. But, the creature was there for a long time, and the spikes looked pretty clean.
The only reason Rick would get infected with the virus at this point is to possibly lose his hand, just as he did in the comics. However, if Rick hasn't lost his hand by now, it's likely he won't at any point in the future. What would be the point?
