Arrow Star Stephen Amell Goes Shirtless

This isn't so much news as it is a public service announcement. We've noticed, in our coverage of Arrow of late, that quite a few of our readers have pointed out that series star Stephen Amell doesn't go shirtless nearly as often in the second season as he did the first time around. It's a fair point, and while we had assumed that it was simply a creative choice, either by Amell or the show's directors and producers, it seems that the old days of weekly beefcake on display will be coming soon to a TV near you. Here's what Amell told Facebook, by way of explaining the absence of armpit hair in the photo at right: "Couple of things... After a stretch of inactivity I'm shirtless in almost every episode for the rest of the season. Next, there was an incident filming where I scratched my arm / armpit on a tree branch. That meant we were going to be applying makeup because this cut didn't match the shows continuity, so I trimmed my armpit hair on one side. Then I didn't want to look like the guy with one trimmed armpit. So I did the other one. Then we blasted it with light and now I'm the guy who shaves his armpits and I HATE the guy who shaves his armpits. My SINCEREST apologies. It grew back." The series' next episode, which features Katrina Law as Nyssa Raatko (the daughter of Ra's al Ghul and former love interest of Black Canary), will air on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
