First Look at The Peaky Blinders Movie Shows Tommy Shelby’s Violent Return: Watch The Trailer

3 years after the explosive ending to Peaky Blinders, Cillian Murphy’s infamous gangland leader Tommy Shelby is back in the first trailer for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. The long-awaited movie lands on Netflix on March 20 after an initial run in theaters from March 6, 2026. Creator Steven Knight promises The Immortal Man “will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.โ€ย

Shelby faked his own death at the end of the original series, after being led to believe he was dying, before seemingly turning his back on his family and going into hiding. Once more, Shelby looks isolated by design, but the ominous voice-over heralds his return to “active duty,” almost offering a challenge to him: “Whatever happened to Tommy Shelby, the famous gypsy gangster?” Here’s the trailer:

What The Peaky Blinders: Immortal Man Trailer Reveals About Netflix’s Movie

Interestingly, Tommy’s answer to the challenge is “I’m not that man, any more”, which is underlined by his new look. Gone is the iconic harsh French crop style that he favored even when a member of Parliament, with a softer, greyer look. Perhaps Tommy really has tried to shake off his past completely, but explosive events and the draw of his family are both set to pull him back.

Murphy offered a comment to Netflix on the release of the trailer: โ€œIt seems like Tommy Shelby wasnโ€™t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.โ€ย

The Second World War also takes center stage, as a group of Nazis is shown. Given Tommy’s military past, and his association and battle against British fascist Oswald Mosley in previous seasons, the rise of Hitler and his followers feels almost cyclical for Tommy. Quite what role the war will play is unclear at this point, but it’s bound to open old wounds of his own battlefield experience. There’s also a shot of what appears to be the Shelby family home burning down, which would explain why Tommy’s called back.

While there’s no sign of newcomers Rebecca Ferguson or Tim Roth, or of Paul Anderson’s still unconfirmed Arthur Shelby, we do get another glimpse of Barry Keoghan. The perfectly cast character actor is set to play a leader of the new rising generation of gangsters in Birmingham: a role that may put him at odds with the Shelbys. And of course, there’s a poster:
