With the fall season rapidly approaching, The CW has teased more dire escapades featuring Archie and the gang.
A sinister new poster for Riverdale was just released ahead of the show’s return to television, and it hints at more deadly mysteries for Season Two. Every main character is accounted for, but some fans might have noticed a not-so-subtle reference on the image.

The poster features all of the major players from Riverdale High School in formation while Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe sits in the background. But some of the letters in the sign are malfunctioning, causing it to simply say “DIE.”
Nice touch, Riverdale marketing team.
Fans likely remember the shocking cliffhanger the first season finale ended on where Archie and his dad Fred were inside Pop’s as a masked gunman roughed up the owner. The confrontation ended with a shot ringing out and the gunman’s escape as Archie held his dad, who was bleeding out on the diner’s floor.
The ominous use of the phrase “DIE” as part of Pop’s signage might not bode well for Fred Andrews’ future. And we were just getting used to seeing Luke Perry on our TV screens again!
The series will pick up where Season One left off, featuring Archie in a dark place as he attempts to solve yet another mystery that’s rocked the sleepy small town. With all of the murders, suicides, drug trades, and sexual deviancy going on, Riverdale’s property value has to be taking some kind of hit.
We’ll find out how the town rebounds from the latest tragedy when Riverdale returns to The CW on Wednesday, October 11th at 8p ET.
