Logan released this weekend to great critical acclaim and box office success, but its something bittersweet for fans of the X-Men movies. Hugh Jackman has brought Wolverine to life on screen for 17 years, ever since the original X-Men in 2000, and with Logan, he says goodbye and leaves Wolverine behind for good.

Jackman today decided to show his gratitude to fans with a video he released via Instagram. In the video, Jackman thanks fans for “17 awesome years” and then shows a montage of Logan fan art while Johnny Cash’s cover of “Hurt,” the same song used for the first Logan trailer, plays.

Logan is the biggest box-office opening of the year so far, the fifth-best R-rated opening ever, and the best opening for Jackman’s solo Wolverine movies. The film currently has an 88.54 ComicBook Composite score, the second-highest ComicBook Composite score of any comic book movie, and a 4.73 out of 5 user rating, making it the top rated of all comic book movies among ComicBook.com readers.
