Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix are both sequels to already-established film properties, but New Mutants will be just what its title implies: an entire new (read: untested) branch of the X-Men franchise.

Recently it was announced that Split star Anya Taylor-Joy and Game of Thrones‘ Maisie Williams are playing Magik and Wolfsbane (respectively), two long-time members of the New Mutants roster. Now, a new casting report for another principal actor may shed some light on who the villain in the movie could be.

Check out this casting call from Project Casting:

Central Casting is now looking for men who are 6’9โ€ณ to 7’4โ€ณ who are very thin and athletic. You must be able to chase kids down a hall. Must be okay with prosthetics and make up. Talents will work as a paid principal actor. Filming will be in Boston, Massachusetts from July 13th through July 21st.

New Mutants Movie Demon Bear Actor Casting

Speculation about the casting call is that it could be for the villain Demon Bear, who has long been rumored to be the main antagonist of the New Mutants movie. Demon Bear is the central baddie in a famous New Mutants storyline, in which The Bear (a corrupted Apache spirit) has possession of New Mutant team memeber Danielle Moonstar’s parents, and his hunting her down. It takes the combined efforts of the team (in a brutal wilderness survival scenario) to stop the demon, and free Dani’s parents.

A New Mutants movie that mixed X-Men superhero action with a grueling survival tale like The Grey would certainly be the different kind of movie that director Josh Boone (Fault In Our Stars) has been teasing.
