There's no denying that Robert Downey Jr. has some pull with Disney. The last two movies he starred in for Marvel Studios made over a billion dollars each at the worldwide box office. In fact, The Avengers and Iron Man 3 were the highest grossing films worldwide of 2012 and 2013 respectively. Downey Jr. is said to have played a role in getting Gwyneth Paltrow in the Avengers and in getting Shane Black hired as director of Iron Man 3. With that being said, this latest rumor may or may not be true. According to RadarOnline.com, Robert Downey Jr. is trying to get his friends Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster cast in an Avengers movie. It's unclear if Downey Jr. is wanting to recruit them for Avengers: Age of Ultron or not. Downey Jr. is signed on for at least two more Avengers film, so he could always be trying to get them in Avengers 3. According to RadarOnline's sources, Downey Jr. wants to help Gibson and Foster achieve similar success to what he has had in the last couple of years. Reportedly, bringing Foster into the Marvel fold wouldn't be a problem. However, Gibson's past controversies could be problematic with him landing a role.
