While the fan-favorite summertime game mode in Overwatch called Lucioball has been teased and hinted at throughout the summer, a player has found some new achievements related to the soccer-style matches that were added with the most recent patch.

After digging through the patch that recently released Doomfist into the Overwatch mix, a Redditor by the name of Ekultron located the achievements tucked away in the update. The achievements, which can be seen below, require players to perform actions such as saving or scoring goals while working within certain circumstances.

While some players considered that these may have been leftover achievements from last year's reveal of Lucioball, the fact that none of them have been unlocked by anybody at all yet should enough to convince doubters otherwise. If not, just take a look at the final achievement that's listed, one that requires players to play has Doomfist. Though not related to Lucioball, having a Doomfist achievement side-by-side with a Lucioball achievement symbolizes two things that Overwatch players have been anticipating for quite some time now.

Not long ago, it was confirmed that Overwatch would be bringing back the Summer Games for a second year, news that was met extremely well by players. While Lucioball hadn't been confirmed at that time, the fact that the Summer Games were on their way left players extremely hopeful that the high-speed soccer mode would be returning as well.

Even before the Summer Games were confirmed, players who mined the PTR changes were able to find assets that hinted towards Lucioball. Several statistics were discovered – Goals, Interceptions, and Saves – stats that could mean little besides the return of Lucioball.

If you didn't the chance to play Lucioball last year, imagine a combination of Overwatch and Rocket League and you have a decent foundation for what you should expect. Replace those drifting, boosting cars with jumping Lucios, and you have an even better picture of what Lucioball is. Players compete in an arena-style match to launch the goal into the opposing team's goal, all while playing as the sound-thumping Lucio.

There's no word on when Lucioball will be formally announced, but players can likely expect it to be soon since August is about to start.
