It looks like Star Trek: Discovery is bringing in another member of Spock's family.

TrekMovie.com recently reported that Mia Kirshner will be appearing in Discovery as Amanda Grayson, Spock's human mother and the adoptive mother of Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green). Amanda's Vulcan husband, Sarek, has already appeared in the series, portrayed by James Frain.

The role of Amanda Grayson was originated by Jane Wyatt in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode 'Journey to Babel'. Wyatt later reprised her role in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Winona Ryder later played Amanda in J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek film.

Kirshner is best known for appearances on The L Word, Defiance, and 24.

It's unknown exactly when Amanda will make her debut, but there are quite a few avenues for it to occur. Sarek has appeared quite a bit through the season's current events, as well as flashbacks. Whether or not Amanda and Sarek's other child will appear in the series has yet to be seen.

Discovery's premiere, "The Vulcan Hello", was watched by nearly 10 million viewers on CBS and the premiere of Discovery drew a record-high number of new CBS All Access sign-ups.

If Discovery proves successful, more Star Trek series could be on the horizon, including a Star Trek anthology series or the rumored prequel about Khan Noonien Singh.

New episodes of Star Trek: Discovery will stream on CBS All Access Sundays at 8:30 p.m. ET.
