During a recent interview with Details, actor Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels, admitted that he understands why fans were frustrated with the film, saying that their expectations didn't match up with the film they got, and said he doesn't mind the criticism.

In the interview, in which he also confirmed plans for an upcoming sequel to his cult hit Trainspotting, McGregor said that he'd only seen Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace once, and that he has had to face the criticism before, in spite of never having been to a fan convention to meet the hardcore audience.

"I watched it once, at the premiere, so I'm not in a good position to judge," the actor said. "They had a tall order, the three films did. The fans waited so long and wanted to feel like they did when they watched the first film, but they were grown-ups by that time. I don't mind the criticism. I've heard it to my face."
