While most of us dozed through a post-turkey haze this weekend, it's been a busy 72 hours for that galaxy far, far away.

Initial reports from The Hollywood Reporter indicate that Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer topped 40 million YouTube views between its Friday morning debut and Sunday afternoon. That would put viewers' first taste of the Star Wars sequel on track to be one of the most-watched trailers of the year. The trailer for 50 Shades of Grey only pulled in 36.4 million views in its first four days, while Avengers: Age of Ultron's teaser assembled 50.6 million views in its first five days.

The Star Wars trailer has been a trending topic throughout the holiday weekend, amassing several spinoff and parody versions from fans. So far, we seen detailed breakdowns,  two Lego versions, and even a George Lucas version of the trailer. That's a lot of love for an 88-second reel of clips.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in just over a year from now: December 18th, 2015. Until then, May the Force Be With Us. We'll certainly need it to stay patient for the next 12 months.
