According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) has unexpectedly dropped out of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. The Warner Brothers film seemed to be all set with an all-star cast consisting of Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Tom Hardy would’ve played Rick Flagg, the reluctant leader of DC Comics’ team of villains-forced-to-be heroes.

The Hollywood Reporter didn’t provide any details on why Tom Hardy exited. So, who might replace Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg? A source for The Wrap says that Jake Gyllenhaal (“Nightcrawler”) is being courted for the role by director David Ayer. Not a bad replacement.
Suicide Squad will land in theaters Aug. 5, 2016.
