The other day, Fast & Furious star Tyrese Gibson created a stir on the Internet by posting some fan art of himself as Green Lantern to Instagram. Today, Tyrese pushed the Green Lantern teases into high gear by posting several more pieces of fan art, while also writing about the importance of potentially playing the character.

In one Instagram post, Tyrese wrote, “Idris fall back I got this! In the brightest day, in the blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let all who worship evil’s might, Beware of the power of Green Lantern’s light!”
The Idris that Tyrese is referring to is Idris Elba, who has often been fan cast into the role of Green Lantern. And of course, the second part of Tyrese’s post is Green Lantern’s famous oath.
In another Instagram post, Tyrese wrote, “”Why don’t we have more black superheroes”….: We have a few…. Now we have one more…. #MAYHEM art by legendary comic book artist @JimLeeArt I sat there and watched him draw this #Mayhem cover…. We’re friends to this day….. Potentially doing this #GreenLantern role isn’t an opportunity its more like a “responsibility”…. Prayers and love will get us there……”
Mayhem! is a three issue comic book mini-series that Tyrese Gibson co-wrote after attending 2009 Comic-Con. It was published by Image Comics.
