Meritt Weaver has been cast as an unrevealed character from the comics in Season 6 of The Walking Dead, AMC announced during the series’ Hall H panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

Weaver won an Emmy in 2013 for her portrayal of nurse Zoey Barkow in Nurse Jackie, and she also played Annie in last year’s Best Picture Academy Award-winner, Birdman.
While we can only speculate as to her role in Season 6 of The Walking Dead, our best guess is Denise Cloyd, one of three doctors living in Alexandria in the original comics.
The Walking Dead‘s 90-minute Season 6 premiere will air Oct. 11 on AMC.
