Vin Diesel may have supplied enough Groot dialogue to last the character’s entire cinematic history, but the actor will still go back in the studio for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Director James Gunn confirmed the news himself while answering fan questions on his Facebook page, announcing that Diesel would once again lend his vocal chords to the Guardians of the Galaxy.

While that revelation may seem to be as obvious as what Groot will say next, Guardians of the Galaxy’s story ended on a note that could have made recasting possible. Last year, Gunn was asked if the Baby Groot at Guardians’ ending was indeed the real Groot, or a progeny. Gunn was coy in his answer, making it unclear if the Groot heading into Guardians Vol. 2 was the one audiences remembered.
“That’s an unanswered question: Is Baby Groot, Groot?” Gunn said at the time. “Or is Baby Groot actually Groot’s progeny?”
Well, regardless of what shape Groot will take, Diesel will be around to provide the dialogue.
