X-Men: Apocalypse screenwriter/producer Simon Kinberg shoots down rumor of Taylor Swift of her appearing in the film as singing superheroine Dazzler, a mutant that can transfer sound vibrations into light and energy beams.

"No, there's nothing to it," Kinberg told MTV at the premiere of his latest film The Martian. "I know where [the rumor] came from, because it's my fault."

How so? Kinberg would listen to Swift's music every morning on his way to the set. When he learned that his new-favorite vocalist was headed to Montreal, the same city where X-Men: Apocalypse was being shot he leaped at the opportunity to see her. He purchased tickets and brought a small contingent of the X-Men cast -- James McAvoy, Sophie Turner, Nicholas Hoult and Rose Byrne -- with him to sing and dance the night away.

"So we went to the show, me and those people, and then she invited us to come back and meet her afterwards," Kinberg explained. "It was just a photo backstage at the concert, and that was the only time we ever saw her. That's where that particular rumor came from." It's all your fault!!!

As for the rumor itself, he actually think Swift as Dazzler ain't a shabby idea. "After I saw those things I was like oh, that's kind of interesting, but no, we were actually just there for her concert," Kinberg added.

X-Men: Apocalypse teleports into theaters on May 27, 2016.
