Yes, that mysterious planet-sized weapon on the poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in fact the "Starkiller Base," a base of operations for the First Order. J.J. Abrams confirmed the identity of the base to EW as part of their week of Star Wars coverage.

When we first wrote about it, we asked the question "is this a new Death Star?" and that's exactly what people in the Star Wars universe will be saying, according to Abrams.

"It is very much — and it's acknowledged as such in the movie — apparently another Death Star," Abrams told EW. "But what it's capable of, how it works, and what the threat is, is far greater than what the Death Star could have done. Starkiller Base is another step forward, technologically speaking, in terms of power."

The First Order looks at the Death Stars' failures as a challenge to go bigger and even more menacing, he teased.

As for the leaders of the First Order, we've seen plenty of Kylo Ren and even a decent amount of Captain Phasma, but very little about Domhnall Gleeson's General Hus, a military leader who rose quickly through the ranks of the organization.

"You don't get that high up in your life that quickly unless you're pretty ruthless. You have to put a few people down on the way to get there," Gleeson told the magazine. He teased that like the Imperial commanders and Darth Vader, Hux and Kylo Ren will have a tense relationship.

"He's kind of the opposite Kylo Ren. They have their own relationship, which is individual and unusual. One of them is strong in different ways than the other. They're both vying for power."
