In the newly-released solicitations for DC Comics products set to hit the stands in April, it's revealed that the woman who's ben hiding in the shadows since the start of Superman: Lois and Clark finally has a name -- and it's one that some fans will remember.

Hyanthis, the mysterious woman seeking the Oblivion Stone, is a character who made her first appearance in 1961's Justice League of America #3, in which she was a deposed former leader of Thanagar.

That version of the character -- who had golden skin and purple, snake-like hair, was a telepathic, amphibious being who could also control plant life.

This version of Hyanthis would make a number of appearances as a villain in Justice League, Hawkman, World's Finest and more, and shortly before her timeline was rebooted in the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths era, she made a one-panel cameo as one of the dictators lining up to grovel for Mongul in Superman Annual #11 -- better known as "For the Man Who Has Everything," which is being adapted into a Supergirl episode soon.

Hyanthis was reinvented in the Hawkworld miniseries and subsequent Hawkman/Hawkwoman reboot as the wife of Thal Porvis, the grandfather of Shayera "Hawkwoman" Thal. In the post-Flashpoint continuity, we haven't seen any sign of Hyanthis yet, although Porvis was reinvented as Thal Provis, who is Shayera's father instead of grandfather.

It may take until April to find out just how much of prior Thanagarian backstory Hyanthis will bring with her when she runs afoul of the pre-Flashpoint Superman...!
