Transformers fans should prepare to transform and roll out on mobile devices, as Hasbro, Space Ape, and Backflip Studios near the release of Transformers: Earth Wars, a new mobile game that will have fans declaring allegiance to either Autobots or the Decepticons.

The studios have provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive series of developer diary videos to take fans behind the scenes of the creation of Transformers: Earth War. This first installment features some of the creative minds behind the game explaining how they've incorporated the characters and lore of the Transformers universe into Transformers: Earth Wars, including Transformers legend Simon Furman.

"It was really important to bring aboard some of the original Transformers team to the game," says Chris White, Product Owner. "Simon Furman wrote so many of the original Transformers' backstory, so many of the comics, from the '80s onward through to the modern IDW stories."

"Right from the start, there was a real sort of feeling about the characters," Furman recalls. "They had depth, and personality, and character quirks, and weaknesses, and they were human more than were robot."

But Furman isn't the only Transformers icon involved with Transformers: Earth Wars. Voice acting legends Peter Cullen and Frank Welker will reprise their respective roles as Optimus Prime and Megatron, leaders of the opposing Autobot and Decepticon factions.

"The voice recording with Peter and Frank took place remotely," White recalls, "so I was the end of a phone line. So I could only hear their voices, I couldn't actually see them, and it was really interesting because it was like being on the phone to Optimus Prime and Megatron."

Transformers: Earth Wars will launch on mobile devices this June. Keep an eye out for more developer diary videos on ComicBook.com in the coming weeks.
