Hollywood typically doesn't let a proven IP sit for long, and that is true of most iconic horror franchises, such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday The 13th, and Halloween, which all have reboots or sequels at different stages of development.

Last year it was announced that Freddy Krueger's Nightmare on Elm Street, which has been dormant since 2009, would also be getting a reboot, with David Leslie writing the screenplay. Leslie is known for his work on The Conjuring 2, a franchise that is to today's audience what Elm Street and its ilk were to millions of people during its heyday.

Since that original announcement, though, things have been rather quiet regarding the film, until @BettieToxic simply asked a question on Twitter. @BettieToxic tweeted "If A Nightmare on Elm Street gets rebooted again can we please somehow get Kevin Bacon as Freddy? I think he'd be fantastic" (via Bloody Disgusting).

"I like the way you think Bettie" Bacon responded.

Bacon has a plethora of experience with the horror genre, including the original Friday the 13th, which he was featured in. Since then he's gone on to be in films like Tremors, Stir of Echoes, Hollow Man, and The Darkness, so for him to take on Nightmare on Elm Street as a villain would surely be in his wheelhouse.

Again, there is no official linking here, but it is worth noting, as Twitter has become the latest way for an actor to express interest in a project, and occasionally those become reality. We'll just have to wait and see if this all pans out.
