The newest Assassin’s Creed trailer shows off quite a bit of new footage, with a lot of exposition to explain to non-fans just what this franchise is all about. The trailer has some great catchphrases in there, like “Your destiny is in your blood” and “We work in the dark to serve the light. We… are Assassins.” It also goes through the step-by-step process: Abstergo (a front for the Templars) in the modern day want information from the past that only their enemies, the Assassins have – so they use a piece of technology called the Animus to make people relive moments from their ancestral past to get what they want.

The new trailer gave us several new up-close looks at the Abstergo facility that Michael Fassbender’s modern-day character Callum Lynch is kept in, revealing a look straight out of the video games with several recognizable features (like the stark white cells) and lots of Easter Eggs to hunt out. In this particular Abstergo facility, it looks like they’re testing several subjects at once, with many modern-day Assassin descendants being kept there. The new version of the Animus is shown off in detail here, too.

We also get closer looks at the past, in the time of the Spanish Inquisition, where Aguilar and his brotherhood work to keep the peace and drive back the Templars. We see many of the Assassins, plus their gadgets, beyond just the hidden blade. Daggers fly and even the rope dagger is used in a dramatic moment. Plus, there’s leaping. Looooots of leaping.

Check out the trailer above and our extensive gallery below for those close-up paused moments to over-analyze and see if you can spot any Easter Eggs we may have missed.
