Several weeks ago, during New York Comic Con, our own Jim Viscardi spoke with Elementary star Aidan Quinn, who plays Captain Thomas Gregson in CBS’ modern-day Holmes and Watson drama series, and asked him about the Gregson-Sherlock relationship. Over the past four seasons, bit by bit, Gregson has divulged new and fascinating details about the former consultant to Scotland Yard, helping to flesh out Sherlock’s backstory and show the mutual respectful they have for one another.

“Sometimes, Rob [Doherty] wll leak out things,” Quinn told ComicBook.com. “I think a lot of it is unspoken and a secret between me and Sherlock, and not really going to be explored too much. But sometimes, it’s come out in the past. I personally think, Gregson has… He annoys him. A lot, sometimes. But less in the last year or two, because I think Sherlock’s behavior is less crazy, for the most part, but not always. But I also think Gregson has a real affection for the man and the struggles that he’s gone through, and I think there’s probably been some similiar issues in Gregson’s own family, so he kind of relates.”

Captain Gregson lobbies to include Holmes and Watson when his unit is selected to receive a city commendation for its exemplary work. Also, as Holmes and Watson consult on the investigation into a financial analyst’s murder, they are drawn into the world of asteroid research.

The main cast features Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes, Lucy Liu as Joan Watson, Aidan Quinn as Captain Tommy Gregson, Jon Michael Hill as Detective Marcus Bell, and Nelsan Ellis as Shinwell Johnson.

The guest cast includes Owain Yeoman as Julius Kent, Rob McClure as Grant Huber, Richard Thomasas Mitch Barrett, Bridget Ann White as Laurie Barrett, Gordon Clapp as Deputy Chief Prosky, Linda Powellas Congresswoman Salazar, Myra Lucretia Taylor as Shelly, Daniel Cosgrove as Len, Suzy Jane Hunt as Susan, and Maechi Aharanwa as Waitress.

“Henny Penny the Sky is Falling” was written by Bob Goodman and directed by John Polson.

Rob Doherty, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Michael Cuesta, who directed the pilot, are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

The 100th episode of Elementary, which is titled “Henny Penny the Sky is Falling,” will air Sunday, October 30 at 10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.
