When Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters next month, fans will watch as a group of Rebels fight to save their very dreams. With the Galactic Empire threatening the galaxy with its new weapon, the Death Star, no planet is safe - but a group of desperate Rebels will do what they can to keep the behemoth from firing.

In a newly released Rogue One TV spot, fans can watch as Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and her Rebel comrades fight back against the encroaching Empire. Though their enemy may have immense power, it is Jyn who reminds the company the Rebellion has little choice but to push against the Empire's tyrannical reign.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits US theaters December 16, 2016. Directed by Gareth Edwards, it's the first of the new standalone features from Lucasfilm and Disney, which take place outside the core "Skywalker Saga" of films noted by an Episode number. Rogue One tells the story of the small band of rebels that were tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. The story spins directly off the opening crawl from the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In that crawl, it read: "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet."

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.
