If you are a fan of Star Trek, then you are one of millions who've enjoyed Gene Rodenberry's sci-fi epic. The franchise got its start back in September 1966 when the Starship Enterprise made its maiden voyage into the final frontier. The original series introduced fans to iconic characters like Captain Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Bones, and more. This years marks the franchise's 50th anniversary, and fans have been eagerly celebrating the milestone along with the franchise's many actors.

So, it's not surprising to learn that a fan has made a terribly touching tribute to everyone's favorite Vulcan hybrid, Spock.

Youtuber @melodysheep took it upon themselves to create a tribute video to Spock which they titled "The Good of the One." The clip is a montage that sources scenes from Star Trek: The Original Series as well as latter films. The tribute focuses on Spock and his growing struggle to meld his human emotions with his Vulcan intellect - and the footage shows how much the Enterprise crew helped him do just that.

The video begins with Spock speaking to his mother when she asks him whether the good of the many outweigh the good of the one. Spock's logic demands for his agreement, but the Starfleet officer soon has those values challenged. No intellect could be a match of Captain James T. Kirk and his overt emotions, and Spock's is no different. The pair find themselves becoming unwitting fans throughout the series, and even Spock must admit they are friends.

In the tribute, fans see how Spock and Kirk's relationship reaches a climax. The video uses a pivotal scene from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock which shows Kirk reuniting with his friend after a long journey. The half-Vulcan asks Kirk why the man would go to such lengths to save him, and the Captain answers, "Because the needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many."

And, when that scene was aired, hundreds of Trekkies did all they could to keep themselves from sobbing.

Of course, the tribute is an emotional one in light of Leonard Nimoy's passing. The iconic actor died last year after battling an illness, and Star Trek fans everywhere vocally mourned the loss. This fan-video does an excellent job honoring Spock as a character while also highlighting Nimoy's undeniable talent, and fans will definitely get a bit choked up watching it.

If this tribute makes you want more Star Trek, then you can always revisit the original series at your leisure. Next year, Star Trek will make its small-screen comeback when CBS debuts Star Trek: Discovery. If you can't wait until then, you can always check out the documentary For The Love Of Spock. The film was directed by Nimoy's son and recounts how the actor's life changed once he nabbed the role of Spock.
