Ryan Reynolds likes to joke around almost as much as Wade Wilson does. The star is more like Deadpool than fans might have imagined, but Reynolds has proven time and again that the two are similar. Both have a love of raunchy, off-the-wall quips, and that kind of humor was put on display when Deadpool hit theaters this year. However, Reynolds is now saying one of his favorite lines from the film was ultimately cut from the final edit.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds talked about the humor of Deadpool and said he would prep 10-15 jokes for specific scenes.
“In between takes I’m just looking at them and I’m trying different ones,” Reynolds said. “I do improv but it’s no where near the caliber of [costar] T.J. Miller. His mouth should be in the Smithsonian. The rest of him is garbage. But his mouth is truly unbelievable.”
When asked whether there were any lines cut which he wished had stayed, Reynolds confessed there was one. “Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) says something about our duplex we live in. I say, “This isn’t a duplex โ it’s hepatitis holding still.” That was one of my favorite lines, which is sorta slightly stolen from Funny Farm: “This ain’t a bridge โ it’s termites holding hands.” So I can’t take credit for it,” he explained.
Armed with rated-R jokes, Deadpool rocked fans everywhere with its uncouth aesthetic and wholly inappropriate humor. The superhero flick was very different from its recent contemporaries, and that is one of the reasons why Deadpool has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Reynolds has said he thinks the honor was given to the blockbuster because of its subversivenes.
“It’s important to note that in regards to Deadpool’s narrative material, the film came along at exactly the right time when we (the industry) reached the peak of superhero (movies) and Deadpool was 90 degrees to it,” he said. “There’s been a lot of superhero films that have been brilliant, and there’s a seriousness and darkness to them. At the end of the day, it’s about guys walking around in tights. Deadpool took these tropes and usurped them in inventive ways.”
