Acting can land you in all sorts of awkward situations. From sex scenes to simply having to do things way out of your normal comfort zone, the performance business can make people have to bend and compromise – sometimes in crazy ways.
Case in point: longtime acting couple Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) and Amanda Abbington (Cuffs) recently split – yet the pair had to recently unite onscreen for Sherlock season 4, in which they play Dr. John Watson and his wife Mary, respecitvely.

Speaking with Sunday Telegraph, Abbington spoke of having to play new married couple and parents alongside a man with whom her relationship was ending. As she revealed, it wasn’t easy, per se (“so weird”), though also not as bad as some people may surmise:
“There was no hostility, really, we just said that we couldn’t live together anymore, so we put everything in place, he moved out to a flat in north London, I stayed at home and we’ve started a new chapter.”
