The will he or won’t he saga of Daniel Craig and the James Bond franchise has settled a bit in recent months, though no real forward movement has been made publicly regarding the next step in the series.

Part of that hesitation seems to be on the studio’s part, and according to Bond actress Naomi Harris, who has played the role of Moneypenny in Skyfall and Spectre, it seems to be because no one has moved on from Craig just yet. Harris spoke to the press at the OBE award ceremony (where she had just received one from Queen Elizabeth II), and indicated they aren’t ready to say goodbye to the actor just yet (via Heroic Hollywood).

“I really don’t think that they’ve moved on from Daniel. I think there’s a very good chance that Daniel will come back. I think it’s way too early to be thinking about other people at this stage.”

Craig was initially rather outspoken about not wanting to return for a fifth go-round as Bond but has pulled back a bit in recent months, even going so far as to say he would miss the role if he did leave. Harris knows the rest of the team wants him back for another film but understands he has to do what’s right for him.

“I think the fact that the last two Bonds โ€“ Spectre and Skyfall โ€“ have been the highest-grossing Bond movies of all time shows that people love him as Bond, and they desperately want him to return. And I don’t think Daniel is immune to thatโ€ฆ I think he’s very aware, so I think that adds an extra level of pressure. But he has to ultimately do what feels right to him. But I know that we, as a cast, collectively want him back. I know that Barbara and Michael โ€“ our producers โ€“ desperately want him back, so I think the only person that needs persuading is Daniel.”

The Bond films have all been well received, with the first Craig Bond (Casino Royale) still ranking as the favorite. The last two films carry mostly high scores on ComicBook.com’s composite rankings, with Skyfall landing at an 84.10 and Spectre with a 70.53. Spectre came in lower than Skyfall, but still raked in over $880 million in worldwide box office.

There is currently no date for the next entry, but the studio is starting early work on locations.
