Ever since its official announcement back in October, we've been feverishly awaiting any sort of official word on Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2, which is headed for a fall release this year. More than likely, that'll come during E3, when either Microsoft or Sony will have some form of presentation for the forthcoming sequel.

But thanks to an anonymous user in the GTA Forums, we may very well have our first look at imagery from Red Dead Redemption 2. It appears that the image, which we've included below, was taken off-screen, as if the user was at some sort of early presentation for the game, and while some of the colors don't exactly look like they fit, there's no question that the screenshot looks, well, Red Dead-ish in terms of atmosphere and design.

It's not a very action-packed photo, as it appears to show a character simply relaxing on a patio while the world goes on around him, including a few townsfolk and a nearby horse tied off, just waiting to be ridden.

There are some talks that the image could've been taken from the now-cancelled Red Dead Redemption mod for Grand Theft Auto V, but it's since been disproved since the image doesn't feature any sort of map that's from the original game, so it could very well be from the sequel.

There's also more proof generated, as indicated by the previously released trailer for the game. In it, you can catch a glimpse at someone leaning over by a shop, with their legs and arms crossed as they apparently wait for something. Now, looking back at the regular image, you can see that it's roughly similar, but just a little bit more detailed.

Of course, Rockstar Games hasn't said anything officially, outside of the trailer reveal last year, so your guess is as good as ours. Still, if this is the level of detail we can expect from the forthcoming follow-up, then we're in for some good times indeed. Hopefully, we'll see some form of the game pop up next month – and more in motion, of course.

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases later this year for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
