Following the recent Supernatural finale, fans were desperate to learn whether Misha Collins was parting ways with the drama. The actor, who plays Castiel, first joined the show back in season four and has been a major player since his introduction. The angel was unexpectedly killed in the latest Supernatural episode after Lucifer stabbed him with an angel blade before the Winchester brothers. The sudden death didn’t give a lot of loop holes, but Collins isn’t phased by that.
Taking to Twitter, Collins has given fans hope about Castiel and his return to Supernatural. The actor posted a short message to fans which said “Cass [or Cas] has a future.” As for what kind of future that is, fans don’t know. However, it does sound like the angel will be brought back to life and reunited with the Winchesters. Jared Padalecki accidentally revealed that much during a recent fan convention in Italy.
When the actor was asked about Supernatural‘s upcoming Scooby-Doo crossover, Padalecki had this to say: “We actually already recorded it. [It’s] episode 16 of next season, and we already had to do the script and go to a music studio. And we did all the dialogue, Jensen [Ackles, who plays Dean Winchester] and Misha and I.”
After making the admission, Padalecki looked at the crowd and covered his face once he realized his mistake.
And, if that weren’t enough, TV Line just released its newest ‘Ask Ausiello’ bulletin, and the TV insider touched on Castiel’s return. Michael Ausiello said, “Pretty sure Collins’ Cas is sticking around (in some form).”
For longtime fans of Supernatural, the return of Castiel won’t be unprecedented. The angel has died before and been resurrected (like all of the show’s other leads). Castiel’s first death happened back in season five when Lucifer literally obliterates him. Castiel was revived by God before he died again in season seven when devilish Leviathans take over his body. Oh, and Castiel also died in season nine – that’s what you get for falling in love with a reaper.
