Another day, another cast member joins the set of Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel Studios has been busy with the upcoming blockbuster’s production, but there is still plenty of work to be done. Filming kicked off several months ago in Atlanta before the Avengers flick set its eye on foreign set locations. Recently, Chadwick Boseman brought Black Panther to set as the star joined in on the superhero fun. And, now, the third Avengers film has finally conjured up Doctor Strange.

Fans have just learned that Benedict Cumberbatch has arrived on set for Avengers: Infinity War. The British actor will report for duty as he reprises Stephen Strange for the ensemble feature. Jay Funk, a movement designer for Marvel Studios, confirmed Doctor Strange had finally made an appearance on set via Twitter.
So far, there are not many details out surrounding Avengers: Infinity War, but fans do know the film boasts a star-studded cast. Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Holland, and Benedict Wong are confirmed to appear in the film – and that is just a snippet of the cast. Just yesterday, news broke that Danai Gurira will also appear in the film following her MCU debut in Black Panther.
As for Doctor Strange, the sorcerer’s bit in Avengers: Infinity War is vague at best. Cumberbatch has kept his lips sealed about his role, but he tell the following to Collider last year:
“What else could I be expected to say except that I’m thrilled,” Cumberbatch said when asked about being added to the Avengers film.
“I feel like I’ve said it all before. It’s very exciting, it was great to be in origin film that’s done this well and I really enjoyed playing him, and even with the reshoots we did, it was great fun to put that costume and persona back on again, so I’m very excited to carry him forward. That’s all I can really say today, you know. But I’m genuinely really, really excited. I’ve got a lot of fun to look forward with the Infinity Wars and I’m sure with his own standalone film again.”
You can check out the first synopsis for Avengers: Infinity War below:
“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.”
Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
