The DC Extended Universe has admittedly had problems with its critics, but 2017 may just turn the franchise onto a new reputation. Thanks to Wonder Woman, DC Entertainment rolled out one of its most critically acclaimed features since Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films. Gal Gadot reprised her role as the Amazon princess with ease, leaving moviegoers around the world charmed. Given the hero’s popularity, fans began to wonder if Justice League‘s reshoots might add more Wonder Woman to the film as a way to capitalize on the character.

However, it looks like no such thing has happened. The co-heads of Warner Brothers’ DC Films have confirmed Justice League won’t alter Wonder Woman‘s bit following the success of her film.

In an interview with Variety, Geoff Johns and Jon Berg sat down to talk about the DCEU’s future. It was there that Berg stressed Wonder Woman hasn’t changed its heroine’s bit in Justice League.

“Her role won’t change, but she was already playing a big role,” Berg explained. “People really responded to Gal [Gadot] in “Batman v. Superman.” We knew we had something special.”

Of course, Berg is correct with his note about Wonder Woman’s immediate appeal. The character was one of the highlights of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Critics were quick to put the film on blast when it premiered last year, but Gadot’s debut was praised universally. DC Entertainment knew it would want to highlight the icon with its much-awaited Justice League venture, and Wonder Woman has only confirmed those initial suspicions.

So far, there is no word on what kind of role Wonder Woman will have in Justice League. Recently, set photos from the film’s reshoots hinted that the heroine might have her backstory revisited in the movie. Fans snapped photos of a hangar-like building being erected on set which featured the Knights Templar logo. The symbol has been used over the centuries, but it had particular use in Germany during the early 1900s. Fans have wondered if building may be used during a Wonder Woman flashback sequence since the hero’s standalone was partial set in World War I Germany.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powersโ€ฆand her true destiny.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and is written by Allan Heinberg, Geoff Johns, and Zack Snyder. The film stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis (Etta Candy), Danny Huston, Ewen Bremmer, Doutzen Kroes, Samantha Jo (Euboea), Florence Kasumba (Senator Acantha), Said Taghmaoui, Eleanor Matsuura (Epione), Emily Carey (Young Diana), and Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe).

Wonder Woman is in theaters now, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020.
