Potential spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi below!
Making Star Wars’ editor-in-chief, Jason Ward, is reporting that a scene in The Last Jedi will include a bit of a Porg, a species of bird that is said to be featured in the film, sitting on R2-D2’s head.
“There is a moment in The Last Jedi,” the site’s anonymous source explains, “where one of the porgs lands on Artoo’s head and it is absolutely adorable.”
Fans have already heard quite a bit about Porgs, which will share the planet of Ahch-To with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Early reports indicated that the penguin-like birds will be a sacred part of the planet’s ecosystem, and will be brought to life via a complex puppetry system.
Making Star Wars enlisted a concept artist to draw what the meeting between the Porg and R2-D2 could look like, in an image you can see below.
As of now, there’s no indication that the interaction between R2-D2 and the Porgs will actually be seen in The Last Jedi, but its certainly plausible. And either way, it’s a pretty cute concept.
The Last Jedi lands in theaters December 15.
