It’s been 14 years since the original Incredibles thrilled audiences, but Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter revealed to IGN that for the family no time has passed.

“It starts right as the first one finishes, so it just carries on,” quipping that only “a minute” will have passed. “It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece. You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that’s where start this movie.”

Seeing the family finally come together as a unit was a big part of the first Incredibles, and it will remain a central piece of the sequel.

“One of the unique things about the Incredibles is it’s really a story of a family set in the world of superheroes. This one carries on that theme,” he said. “It’s awesome, the idea we came up with — simple as that. … We love to really look at our own lives and look at what’s going on, and find themes that we know will resonate with the audience.”

Much of the cast of the original is expected to return for the sequel, including Samuel L. Jackson’s friend of the family Frozone, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Expect more details this weekend at D23.

Pixar’s next effort is Coco, which currently has a 2.41 out of 5 on ComicBook.com’s anticipation rankings, and you can submit your rating here. The official description is located below.

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself magically transported to the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael Garcรญa Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

Cars 3 is currently in theaters, with Coco heading to the big screen on November 22, 2017. Toy Story 4 lands on June 15, 2018, followed by The Incredibles 2 on June 15, 2018.
