At long last, it looks like Dragon Ball Super is about to get into the meat of its ongoing arc. The ‘Universal Survival’ saga kicked off back in February, but it has been slow to rouse up action. The last few episodes have focused on Goku as he gathers a team of fighters to defend Universe 7 in the Tournament of Power. Now, the arc is revving up for its rising action, and it may have dropped a hint about the anime‘s next storyline.

Recently, Dragon Ball Super dropped its 93rd episode titled “You’re the Tenth Warrior! Goku Goes To See Frieza!!” Fans watched as Majin Buu was suddenly thrust out of Goku’s team after he fell into a ritual sleep. When the hero suggested he add Freeza to their team, Vegeta pushed back on the idea as he said no one could touch himself, Gohan, and Goku.

However, it seems like Vegeta was wrong with his assumption. Whis interrupts the group and informs the team he’s uncertain of how likely Universe 7 is to win the tournament. It is then the angel reveals that there’s a universe out who houses a mortal stronger than Beerus. Aside from the Omni-King, Beerus stands as Dragon Ball‘s most powerful character as he managed to outlast Goku in battle.

“There is a universe where lives a mortal even a God of Destruction can’t defeat,” Whis explains. “That God of Destruction happens to be stronger than Beerus.”

The group looks stunned by the confession, and the knowledge gives Goku the go-ahead to recruit Freeza to the team. For now, there is no telling which mortal Whis is talking about, but fans are curious to see if the character will appear now or in a later story arc. The ‘Universal Survival’ arc has been laid out frankly since it is slated to pit the multiverse together. So far, there has been no mention of any warrior who could beat Beerus, but fans cannot be sure the stranger won’t show up.

If Majin Buu can escape the Tournament of Power, then it is seem like another warrior could be brought into the fray if need be. Dragon Ball Super could always reveal that one of the current competitors is this mystery warrior, but it may leave room to explore the mystery in a new arc. After all, Goku has worked tirelessly to fight opponents strong than himself; If he is weaker than Beerus and finds someone who can top his universe’s God of Destruction, then the Saiyan won’t rest until that fighter battles with him.

The synopsis of Dragon Ball Super’s current saga can be read below:

“According to an invitation that Goku gets, Zen-Oh (Omni King) is starting a martial arts tournament between all the universes called “Chikara no Taikai” (Tournament of Power). But it is the beginning of universal destruction. Something awaits the winners and losers of this tournament. What will become of this fierce team battle between each universe’s elite warriors?”
