Spring anime series are starting to roll in on streaming service, and the new season of anime is looking promising. One of the first spring anime that was added to Crunchyroll today is the steampunk series Clockwork Planet.

Clockwork Planet is available to stream on Crunchyroll on Thursday April 6, at noon PST. The series will be available to members in almost all most regions except for Asia.

The site describes the show as the following:

This news may seem sudden... but this world died long ago.

Earth died a thousand years ago, and a legendary clockmaker known only as "Y" rebuilt it using clockwork. Naoto Miura, a failing high school student, encounters RyuZU, an automaton that "Y" left behind, and the genius clockmaker Marie. When the abilities of these three come together, the gears of fate begin to turn. The cycle of failure and success repeats endlessly as the three of them work to repair the endangered "Clockwork Planet" in this clockpunk fantasy!

Clockwork Planet started as a Japanese light novel series by Yuu Kamiya and Tsubaki Himan, and illustrated by Shino. It was then serialized in Monthly Shonen Sirius in 2013, and has coined the new genre clockpunk, which is essentially steampunk with clocks. The manga series is summarized below:

Naoto's a high school dropout and brilliant amateur tinkerer. He lives in a world that has been so over-exploited that the entire surface has become one vast machine. When a box crashes into his home containing a female automaton, it's a harbinger of change that will rock the entire globe, and give Naoto his chance to be a hero.
