Dragon Ball: Did You Know There's More Than One Kamehameha?

If you are a fan of Dragon Ball, then you will be very familiar with the word above. Akira Toriyama’s franchise has been around for decades, but Goku’s most famous attack never seems to go out of style. Still, there are things everyday fans may not know about the energy blast. Like, say, that there are actually a slew of different Kamehameha moves.

Over the years, Goku and his Dragon Ball squad have experimented liberally with the formidable attack. Master Roshi is the man behind the Kamehameha as the martial artist invented the move. The fighter perfected the move over fifty years, and Roshi assembled the blast by accumulating massive amounts of ki into his palms and pushing it out as a beam.

Still, Roshi could not keep the move a secret forever. Goku learned about the blast after he watched his mentor use a Kamehameha blast to save the Ox-King’s home. The boy quickly picked up how to use the movie, and Roshi’s fellow pupils all got a chance to learn the Kamehameha.

Kaoi-Ken Kamehameha

If you thought the original Kamehameha is tough, then you haven’t gotten to see the Kaoi-Ken Kamehameha at work. Dragon Ball Z fans got to see the latter attack in full-force when Goku went up against Vegeta. By coming the Kaoi-Ken power-up with his usual Kamehameha, Goku was able to use the move against Vegeta’s Galick Gun years ago. The hero has since used such an attack to level his Kamehameha up by over twenty times.

Instant Kamehameha

Dragon Ball likes to combine things, so it should be no surprise to know the series has mashed up the Kamehameha with Instant Transmission. The latter ability gives heroes like Goku the power to move faster than the average eye can see. So, when you pair that with the Kamehameha, you can make the long-range attack into a close-range surprise. Goku was able to use this attack successfully for the time time against Perfect Cell, and fans lost their minds over the surprise move.

Father-Son Kamehameha

When Gohan went Super Saiyan 2, fans of Dragon Ball thought the hero could not get any cooler. However, they were proved wrong once the kid teamed up with his father’s spirit to create the now-legendary Father-Son Kamehameha. The attack was unleashed when the pair charged up the explosive blast in a last-ditch effort to defeat Cell. And, as expected, Super Perfect Cell did not stand a chance against the combined blast.

Big Bang Kamehameha

There can only be one ultimate Kamehameha, and Gogeta has dibs on it. The fusion character left fans stunned when it whipped out the attack in Dragon Ball GT. The move may not be considered wholly canon by fandom standards, but it is impossible to deny how insane the attack is. The Big Bang Kamehameha is created when Vegeta and Goku fuse into Gogeta. The combined body then charges Goku’s Kamehameha fuses it with Vegeta’s concentrated Big Bang bomb. The fusion used the attack against Omega Shenron before using it against the Shadow Dragon. And, honestly, those characters are probably still recovering from the devastating blow.
