In proper Dragon Ball Super style, episode 73 kicks off in an intergalactic ramen bar. Jaco finds himself snacking on some streaming noodles after apprehending Watagash, an unassuming baddie who is secretly a diabolical fiend. While Jaco seems confident his hostage will not escape his grasp, the opposite happens. Watagash escapes Jaco’s UFO craft with ease and heads off into the stars, leaving the bumbling Galactic Patrol member to nurse his wounds.

When the scene changes, audiences finds themselves back on Earth to see Gohan working studiously at his computer. However, he is sent from running from his office when he hears his wife gasp. The couple and their daughter Pan then find themselves mesmerized by a TV ad which is promoting an upcoming movie with Mr. Satan and the Great Saiyaman. Gohan, who looks rather shocked by the ordeal, is then faced with the reality that the superstar Barry Kahn is the one playing Great Saiyaman – and he seems put off by the pretty boy.

When confronted about the film, Mr. Satan simply says his hands were tied to non-disclosure contracts, and the older martial artist stressed he wanted to work with Kahn. However, the young (and somewhat cocky) actor seems detached from the whole film. When it comes down to it, the actor only took on the role because Great Saiyaman was supposedly an uncool nobody who assumed Kahn.

Clearly, the actor has a bit of the ego. He even demands that the film be renamed to highlight his involvement by asking the assistant director to call the movie Barry Kahn in Great Saiyaman vs Mr. Satan.

“This is my movie, so don’t screw it up,” Kahn warns. Yeesh.

Soon after, Mr. Satan then brings Video and Gohan to the set and flirts with the film’s leading lady, Cocoa. However, things go sour when Mr. Satan tries to tell the beautiful idol that his son-in-law is the real Saiyaman. Gohan and Videl quickly stop him from spilling the beans as it means the hybrid hero would lose his job.

Still, fans and even Pan wish Gohan would act a bit tougher. When Kahn comes onto the scene, he tries to flirt with Videl, but the fighter does not give him the time. According to Videl, Gohan is much cooler than Kahn could ever be.

Before long, Gohan and his family watch as filming takes place on the action flick and are stunned to hear that Kahn wants to change an action scene. He wants his stunt-double to jump over a tank at the last second without wires, and the crew is left aghast. In order to help the stuntman out, Gohan volunteers his services to do the seen, and the hero even says his part in the movie might make Pan think he’s cool. And, so, fans see Gohan don his alter-ego’s famous suit once more.

Of course, no one is expecting Gohan to actually pull the stunt off, and Kahn is the first person to harass the Saiyan over his work. However, the director scares him away and asks Gohan to continue working on the film as its primary stuntman.

However, Gohan takes his new gig a bit too far. With a super-suit back in his hands, Great Saiyaman begins working on real-life crimes and even disrupts Krillin when the poor police officer tries to nab some bank robbers. The criminals are ones who Gohan has fought before, but the lankiest proves to be an issue now. During their encounter, the robber is possessed by the alien Watagash, and Great Saiyaman is forced to defuse the situation with an energy blast.

With the world now aware of Great Saiyaman’s return, fans begin wondering if Kahn is behind the vigilante after Bulma informs the film’s crew that Gohan could not be the hero. However, when the two friends later chat about his rendezvous, Cocoa hears the two and becomes smitten with Gohan. She promises to not reveal his secret on the one condition that he flies her home, and Gohan can’t refuse her request.

But, before the dueo can finish their trip, they are intercepted by Jaco who has come to retrieve Watagash. The alien then shoots an energy beam at Great Saiyaman and Cocoa, telling the pair that the parasitic alien has chosen Gohan to become its new host. Unsurprisingly, the half Earthling is taken back by the sudden accusation, and Dragon Ball Super‘s 73rd episode then ends with a bang.
