My Hero Academia has officially returned to screens for the final season, but it’s got some bad news for anime fans who had been hoping to see the finale last a lot longer than it’s going to. My Hero Academia is only one of the blockbuster franchises returning for new episodes as part of the Fall 2025 anime schedule, but it’s certainly the return that most are keeping an eye on as the franchise is heading into its grand finale. There are a lot of mysteries surrounding this final season, but it’s not going to be sticking around for too long.

My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON has revealed on its official website that it will be released on two home media volumes in Japan. This means that there will only be a single cour of 11 or 12 episodes, so when the Fall 2025 schedule ends, My Hero Academia’s anime will be coming to an end as well. There might have been former seasons that had run for multiple cours of episodes across many different months, but that’s not going to be the case for the grand finale.
How Many Episodes Will My Hero Academia Season 8 Be?

There is still a bit of a mystery surrounding My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON, however. Because while it is now confirmed to only be running for a single cour of episodes before it ends, the home media releases have not directly confirmed its number of episodes. The first volume is confirmed to contain six episodes, but it has yet to be revealed how many episodes the second volume will have. This means the final season could be offering as little as ten episodes, or could have as many as 13. But the real sweet spot would be a solid 12 episode cour.
As for what this could mean for the anime’s finale, a single cour of episodes does indeed make a lot of sense considering what there is left to adapt from Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga version of the series. But there’s also a hope that the anime will also adapt all of the epilogue material that has since been released from the original run of the series, and brings it all to a more complete ending than fans saw with the original end with Shonen Jump. There’s still a hope that we’re going to see it happen.
How Will My Hero Academia’s Final Season End?

My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON is now airing its new episodes with both Crunchyroll and Hulu as it releases through the Fall, but there are still a lot of questions about how the franchise is going to end it all with this adaptation. Because while there’s a chance that the anime could adapt the extra epilogue materials, there’s also a potential for the anime to go an entirely different route than see in the manga. Horikoshi himself also teased there’d be some brand new material for the anime release as well.
“Now that My Hero Academia’s manga has ended, I have been able to work more closely with the production studio on the anime and the production process,” Horikoshi teased fans about his contributions to the anime for this final season earlier this Summer. “I’ve had the chance to suggest adding extra scenes and emotional layers to the performances.” These new scenes might fill out the anime in ways fans never expected either. It’s going to be necessary to watch each episode as they hit.
