“I tried my best not to drown,” Yamazaki mentioned of the rushing whirlpool of water in Alice in Borderland’s final game of the season. But although Arisu and Usagi are trying their best not to fall into a whirlpool of water that is dragging them to their deaths in the show itself, Tsuchiya revealed that it was a stunt overseen by a lot of professionals and teams to keep the two of them as safe as possible. “Yes, absolutely. It was the biggest set that we had. From the outside you would think it’s a gymnasium but there was a pool inside. Then there were a lot of teams.”

“Teams that were in charge of waves, teams that were in charge of splashes, and also teams that would be in charge of the water flowing,” Tsuchiya continued. “So the action team made sure that it was very safe for us to go in before we shot, but we tried not to drown.” With the final game itself, Yamazaki revealed a little more insight as to how Arisu was feeling when standing against the mysterious elderly gentleman and explained that the hero never wavered when it came to making his final choice.

“I think he didn’t have any doubts at all because he was very clear about living,” Yamazaki began when opening up about Arisu’s thoughts during the final game. “Of course, when we come back to the real world, the characters forget what had happened in Borderland. But of course, in Borderland, we had experienced losing loved ones, all these heartbreaking things. He’s lost Karube and Chota, his friends as well.” As Yamazaki continued, he revealed that while the Borderland took a lot away from it, it also gave him a lot in return.

“But in Borderland, Arisu also met Usagi and through their relationship is how he found the meaning of life,” Yamazaki explained. “He comes to the conclusion that even if there are hard times, it’s worth living. I think that was so clear to him that even with the scene with elderly gentlemen, it never wavered.” But if you want to see how Alice in Borderland Season 3 came to an end, you can now find all three of its seasons streaming with Netflix.
