Captain America Movie Casts its Red Skull!

Following the recent news that Chris Evans, known for his work in comic book films such as both Fantastic Four movies, The Losers, and the upcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, would be wearing the red, white and blue of Captain America, another major casting for the big-screen adaptation has happened. Respected actor Hugo Weaving has signed on to play the archnemesis of Cap, the Red Skull. Weaving himself is no stranger to this genre of movie, having given wonderful performances in films such as V for Vendetta, The Matrix Trilogy, and The Lord of the Rings series. The film, officially titled Captain America: The First Avenger, is slated for a July 2011 release and is directed by Joe Johnston. The villainous character of Red Skull will get a bit of a modern update, but the news of Weaving's casting will certainly add depth and punch to whatever direction the character is taken in!
