One of Marvel’s announcements at South by Southwest this year–designated Project: Gamma–utilizes the Marvel AR app to bring sound to your print comics.”We are bringing audio to the comics experience,” said Marvel Director of Publicity Arune Singh, but “It’s important that you’re in control of the pace of your reading. This isn’t about pressing play in your comics.”Mostly it’s about scoring–with music that follows your progress and plays at your pace while you read.It should be no surprise that this is something Marvel has given some thought to; after all, they made a copy of Mark Waid’s Daredevil #1 available for free download as an “audiobook” last year. That book, offered for free, can be downloaded here (right click and save link as).Graphic Audio, a radio play and audiobook company that has a long-standing relationship with DC Comics, recently adapted Marvel’s best-selling Civil War to their format. You can check out a video demo played at SXSW below.
