Joss Whedon Iron Man 3 premiere

Everyone seems to have an opinion on Warner Bros. casting Ben Affleck as Batman. And while many have been speculating that the team at Marvel Studios has been laughing themselves silly over the news, it turns out that at least one major Marvel Studios director is supportive of the decision. Earlier today, Avengers director Joss Whedon tweeted, "Affleck'll crush it. He's got the chops, he's got the chin -- just needs the material. Affleck & Cavill toe to toe -- I'm in." Kind words from a man whose Avengers sequel will be going up against Batman for a second time for the yearly box office crown. In 2012, The Avengers finished as the highest grossing movie at the domestic box office with $623 million, while The Dark Knight Rises finished in second place with $448 million. In summer of 2015, the Avengers and Batman will once again square off, as The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is scheduled to be released on May 1, while Batman Vs. Superman will follow on July 17.
