Jared Leto Rumored To Be Up For Doctor Strange Role

Yesterday, news broke that Scott Derrickson would be directing the long-anticipated Doctor Strange movie. Now, BadAssDigest.com is claiming that Marvel Studios is interested in (or at least was interested in at one point) Jared Leto for the title role of Stephen Strange.

There have been a number of actors rumored for the role, including Johnny Depp, Joseph Gordon Levitt, and Jon Hamm. However, Jared Leto's name hasn't been previously mentioned. It does make a lot of sense in that Leto is fresh off an Oscar win for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club, and Marvel Studios likes to pursue actors with rising careers.

Leto also fits the look of Doctor Strange rather well, so it would be hard for fans to complain about the casting. While no official release date has been announced for Doctor Strange, more information will likely be announced at San Diego Comic Con in July (if not sooner).
