With all of the streaming services available today it is hard to keep up with what content is available on which service, especially when it comes to anime. Netflix, for example, has been adding more anime every month. Netflix has also been creating exclusive shows, that have received international recognition.

Death Note

Deathnote is a dark and beautiful anime that shows what happens when the power of a god is dropped in a high school boy’s lap.

A shinigami (god of death) has the power to kill someone at will, as long as the see the victim’s face and write their name in a notebook called a Death Note. For fun, a bored shinigami named Ryuk drops a notebook into the human world, and a high school student named Light Yagami happens on the notebook. Curiosity takes the better of him and he tests the power of the Death Note by writing a criminal’s name down. When that criminal dies, Light is surprised and realizes the power he has in his hands what happens next may surprise you.

Seven Deadly Sins

Seven Deadly Sins is a Netflix Exclusive set in a European Middle Ages type world, where the kingdoms are protected by the Holy Knights of Britannia. According to history there was a band of knights called the “Seven Deadly Sins” that rebelled and betrayed the kingdoms. They were defeated by the Holy Knights, however there are rumors that they are not all dead.

The anime starts on and follows Meliodas, a seemingly young boy who owns and runs a tavern with his adorable pig best friend Hawk. He has a visitor who he thinks is just a normal girl, but ends up being the princess, and he is roped in on a journey of the lifetime, as he helps her search for the Seven Deadly Sins.

Knights of Sidonia

Knights of Sidonia, is a post apocalyptic anime that transports the viewer to the future to the year 3394. Earth has destroyed been destroyed by an alien race, and the last of the human race lives on seed ships that have fled across the galaxy. The alien assault is looming, as an unlikely hero appears from beneath the ground to help defend humanity and fight against the alien race.

Ajin: Demi-Human

The gift (or curse) of immortality carries many responsibilities, and also grants incredible power.  This anime shows a world where “Ajin”, or mysterious immortal demi humans,  are feared and labeled as a threat to mankind. As it is believed that they will use their powers for evil and there is no way to destroy them. Kei Nagi, a high schooler who is at the top of his class and striving to be a doctor, is hit by a van on the way home from school. He survives the accident, and has to face what it’s like to be an Ajin as he finds himself alone in a world where he thought he was human.

Sword Art Online

A virtual reality world where the players are playing at high stakes, dying or living in real life. This is the premise for Sword Art Online, as the players of the ultra popular virtual reality games find themselves trapped within the game themselves, where the only ways out is to complete all 100 of the game or die. The anime revolves around Kazuto Kirigaya and his journey as he fights for his life and tries to survive virtual purgatory
