Ever since Agent Phil Coulson’s cellist girlfriend was first referenced in Marvel’s The Avengers, fans have wondered whether we would ever see the character onscreen. Some have even speculated that Coulson might become Marvel’s first major gay hero on the screen, with the cellist turning out to be a male character. And at the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel at New York Comic Con today, Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb told fans that they could probably expect some closure on that–and on any other dangling threads from the film.”There isn’t anything that Joss Whedon has written or created that we’re not going to mine all way down to the vine,” Loeb told the audience at the Javits Center today.Noting that by the end of the first season, the show will have told more stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe than all of the movies combined, Loeb added, “Until 48 hours ago, we didn’t know there would be more than 13 episodes. So the longer we’re on the air, the greater the possibility it becomes to see the show bleed more with the films.””What we try to do is find ways to make things move seamlessly throughout the way,” Loeb added, saying that there is a plan for the series and that we will eventually learn the secret of Coulson’s resurrection. For fans who want an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comic book series (and why not? Loki and Black Widow are getting their own, and they’ve made Nick Fury resemble his big screen counterpart more than ever before), Loeb had a practical suggestion: write a letter.
