Archie Comics and The CW have released a new poster for Riverdale for Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016. The poster features and artist’s depiction of much of the show’s core cast, including K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, and Casey Cott as Kevin Kellar. Riverdaleis being developed for the CW and will premiere on television in 2017. The pilot is being written by Archie Comics CCO Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and executive produced by Greg Berlanti of The Flash and Supergirl fame. The teen drama is said to put a modern and subversive spin on the classic characters.
Riverdale began life in development at Fox in 2014. When Fox decided not to move forward with Riverdale, the project moved over to The CW. The CW made the official pilot order in January 2016, and the pilot filmed in March.
The Riverdale pilot will premiere at part of Comic-Con International: San Diego. The Riverdale pilot screening will take place during the first ever Riverdale San Diego Comic-Con panel, taking on Saturday, July 23. Here’s the official panel information:
