Artist Lap Pun Cheung imagined just that. He’s created a few pieces that feature characters from Star Wars in the style of animation powerhouse Studio Ghibli.

Cheung’s work is more than just aping Hayao Miyazaki’s character design philosophy. Cheung has acutally reimagined what the galaxy far, far away might look like if it were created by the venerated animation studio. You’ll notice that the Millennium Falcon is a plane, Imperial Star Destroyers have become zeppelins, and the Sith Lords and Stormtroopers are wearing armor that would blend in nicely with the world of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

Check out some samples of Cheung’s work below, and see more at his website.
