It might be more appropriate to re-brand Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice as Justice League Lite. The Dark Knight and The Man of Steel are getting top-billing for Zack Snyder’s upcoming film, but they’re just the beginning of a much deeper DC Comics bench. With a starring role for Wonder Woman, cameos for Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg, and appearances from each heroes’ supporting cast, Batman V. Superman feels more like a DC Universe primer than a slugfest between the two DC titans.
With that in mind, DC should keep the cameos and references coming. If DC truly wants to make Batman V. Superman the launch pad for their greater cinematic plans, they should lean into that angle and get the most bang for their buck. Ahead, we run through the other characters Batman V. Superman should utilize for a truly immerse DC Universe experience.

The Joker
We haven’t seen much of Jared Leto’s Joker yet, but we’re already guessing that Suicide Squad isn’t enough for the world’s most iconic villain. Batman V. Superman and Squad trailers have shown that Batman and Joker share a dark history together, so why not capitalize on that with a brief flashback sequence highlighting one of their greatest battles?
It would be a perfect way to tease the DC Cinematic Universe’s take on their twisted relationship, while also showing the road that led to the grizzled, pessimistic Batman we find in Batman V. Superman. Bonus points if that flashback adapts portions of “A Death in The Family,” showing just how the Joker offed Robin.
Another Justice League Member
Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash are already rumored to have cameos in Batman V. Superman. But that Aquaman teaser poster said “Unite The Seven,” not “the Five,” right? With a majority of the Justice League already appearing in various forms, Batman V. Superman should double-down and create cameos for every member. They wouldn’t have to be scene-stealing appearances, mind you, but just small nods to remind the audiences that larger forces are at play. A quick fly-by shot of a Green Lantern is all we need to fully satisfyย our pre-Justice League appetite.
ย
Amanda Waller
ย As the head of the superhuman agency A.R.G.U.S., Amanda Waller is basically the Justice League’s equivalent to Nick Fury. And as a Fury stand-in, Waller should be aย main thread connecting the Justice League universe’s individual films. And there’s no better place to start that job than on an anchoring film like Batman V. Superman. A brief scene featuring Waller could tee the character up nicely for her starring role in Suicide Squad, while also establishing that she isย the DC Universe’s head honcho. She and Batman have also had some incredible verbal jousts in the comics, which we’d love to see on the big screen.
Jor-El
ย Reboot his Kryptonian A.I. Give him a flashback scene on Krypton. Do whatever you want, Zack Snyder, but please find a way to bring Russel Crowe’s Jor-El back for just one or two more scenes. Crowe’s graceful performanceย as Superman’s daddy was one Man of Steel‘s brightest highlights. We’re just not ready to completely part ways with the character yet. And based on what we’ve seen and heard thus far, Batman V. Superman will cater pretty heavily to the Batman side of the equation. Jor-El could be a perfect way to balance those scales, and give Superman’s world a little more representation.
Batman’s Rogues Gallery
As an older, established Caped Crusader, Ben Affleck’s Batman must have an established Rogues Gallery running amok Gotham City . We’d love to see one of those Arkham Asylum crazies make a quick appearance in Batman V. Superman. As The Dark Knight proved, a cold-open with Batman trouncing a minor costumed villain is aย perfect way to introduce Batman into a film andย utilize a minor villain. Plus, a rogues cameo would reveal more pieces of Batman’s history and personal universeโlaying the foundation for those rumored solo Batman films.
